upcoming shows; 9-27 @ the Parlor (north loop), 10-2 @ some disaro event, 10-3 @ ND w/ how i quit crack and Os Ovni (looking forward to this show)

I've always been a big new wave/80's synthpop fan, so naturally I draw comparisons to this style with other.

One observation I made while talking to my dad last night was how a lot of the "chillwave" artists sound so similar to the synthpop and new wave of the early 80's, and how I'm essentially listening to the stuff now, that my dad listened to when he was my age (he caught me humming a howard jones track)

Holy shit, impromptu show in georgetown

Hey kids,

I just played a great show in georgetown tonight.

Georgetown is about 20-30 minutes north of Austin. I played at the Kappa Sigma house at Southwestern University.

Now, I know you're reading this and thinking "What the fuck, how did matty get a show at a frat house?"

Well, this particular house is, by far, the unfrattiest frat house in existence. Full of art and theatre majors.

The only bands playing were myself and the International League of Super Pals.

As you can tell, my style of music differs greatly from these guys. But holy shit, lemme tell ya, their set was a blast and a half. With audience participation to the fullest extent, I even managed to nab a cameo (cowbell, cymbals, and harmonies).

All in all, tonight was fantastic. I'll definitely be in Georgetown more often in coming days.

I use ableton 6.0

M-Audio Trigger Finger

Korg MiniKP

Boss GT-6 (for vocals and stuff)

and a whole bunch of super secret vsts.

and some vinyl samples.

I've been listening to a lot of Toro y Moi lately.

I'm not sure if that influence will seep into my music or not, but it wouldn't be such a bad thing if it did. I also gotta give a shoutout to Lay Bac. Local from Austin with some awesome jams.
